About Toe Stretching
Do you care your toes as the same way you care your fingers?
Not many people answers YES! After all, there are 5 toes just as there
are 5 fingers, and it is necessary for toes to be able to spread out like
fingers. |
* |
1. Spread the big toe only. (Fig. A) |
Fig. A
Fig. B
Fig. C
Fig. D |
This leads to make only the big toe flexible whereas the other four don't
get flexible at all. To make it even worse, the little toe may lead to
become into a bad shape due to imbalanced exercise. However, if you have
a bad bunion, spreading the big toe gives you a temporary relief. This
is ok for a short period of time, but you should consider the toe balance
with the little toe if you do this as a long-term exercise. |
* |
2. Spread both big and little toes. (Fig. B) |
This will lead to much better results than only spreading the big toe.
Normally those with the bunion (a big toe joint deformity) tend to have
the bunionette (little toe joint deformity) as well. So as a temporarily
relief of bunion and bunionette, you can spread the big and little toes
at the same time. |

3. Spread all 5 toes. (Fig. C) |
It is ideal to spread and stretch all 5 toes, and you can expect the ultimate
balance of toes from this exercise. |

Fig. D shows the important part where flexibility is required the most
for us. |
It is necessary for us to make the muscles in the blackened area (in the picture) flexible. |
